The meeting started at around 9.30 am on Sunday in Moldo area. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General PGK Menon, 14 Corps Commander of the Army from India and Major General Liu Lin, Commander of the South Xinjiang Military Region from China.
Earlier, in the eighth round of talks on November 6, the two sides had a wide-ranging discussion on the withdrawal of troops from sensitive areas. India says it has a responsibility to move ahead with the withdrawal of its troops from disputed mountainous areas and reduce tensions.
It is noteworthy that at least 50,000 Indian Army personnel are deployed in East Ladakh at different altitudes in preparation for war. The two countries have held several rounds of talks to resolve the contentious issues, but no concrete solution has been reached yet. According to officials, a similar army is deployed on the border from China.
Last month, India and China held another diplomatic-level discussion on their respective borders under the WMCC (Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination), but no agreement was reached.
