On Wednesday, many were surprised when a monk wearing a saffron robe and wearing a headdress entered the head office of the State Bank of India in Rishikesh. After Swami Shankar Das presented a check of Rs one crore, many were shocked.
Calling RSS office bearers
After seeing the account of Swami Shankar Das, the staff noticed that the check was correct. After that, RSS functionaries were called to complete the process.
“As soon as we received the notification, we rushed to the bank,” Sudama Singhal, an RSS chief from Rishikesh, told the Times of India. Swami could not donate money directly. So they gave us a check and we gave them a receipt for the donation. Now bank managers will deposit checks in the trust’s account.
According to Swami Shankar Das, he wanted to make a secret donation. However, he said that the amount of donation has been announced to inspire many to build the temple. Swami Shankar Das is called Fakkad Baba by the locals. They make their living from the donations given by the people.
