The Tejas Express between New Delhi and Lucknow was closed by the Railway Board on November 23, 2020 and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad train on November 24. The decision was taken due to the decline in the number of passengers on the Tejas Express during the Corona period.

Prior to this, the Tejas Express had been closed for almost seven months from March 19 during the Corona Lockdown. After that, on 17th October 2020, on the first day of Navratri, Tejas Express was re-launched by Railways. The Tejas Express was shut down again after running for almost a month due to lack of passengers.

The Tejas Express, the first private railway in the country, was launched in October 2019. IRCTC has been entrusted with the operation of this railway. After the launch of Delhi-Lucknow-Delhi Railway in October 2019, Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Mumbai Railway was started in January 2020.
