Farmers Protest: Delhi Police files charges of ‘provocation’ against Greta Thunberg

New Delhi: Farmers have been protesting against the new agriculture law on the Indian capital for the past two months. Greta Thunberg, an 18-year-old Nobel laureate from Sweden and a native of Sweden, came out in support of the movement on social media. Against this backdrop, Delhi Police has registered a case against Greta Thunberg for allegedly making provocative tweets.

An FIR has been registered against Greta Thunberg under sections 153A and 120B.

“We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India,” tweeted Greta Thunberg. Greta has also launched an online campaign to support the farmers’ movement by tweeting.

Earlier, Greta Thunberg’s tweet provided evidence of a conspiracy we had already predicted. BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi had claimed on Wednesday that the conspiracy was hatched.

A statement from India’s foreign ministry was released on Wednesday following an international response to the farmers’ agitation. “There are some interest groups behind this and only a few farmers in some parts of the country are skeptical about reforms in the agricultural sector,” he said. Many international celebrities, including Greta, popular pop singer Rihanna, niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris and renowned lawyer Meena Harris, have expressed support on social media for the ongoing farmers’ movement against the central government’s controversial three agricultural laws.
