Highlights:
- Prime Minister’s second visit to West Bengal in two weeks
- He will also visit Assam and inaugurate schemes
- Assam – West Bengal Assembly elections looming
According to sources, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also invited to attend the function. However, considering her past experience, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has categorically refused to be present on the same platform with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, it is understood that other Trinamool Congress leaders have also been invited to the event.
What happened at the ‘Power Day’ event?
Last time, Mamata Banerjee was seen on the same stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the ‘Parakram Divas’ program organized on the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary. The event was held on January 23 at the Victoria Palace in Kolkata. But, as Mamata Banerjee approached the mic for the speech, some near the stage chanted ‘Jai Shriram’. After this, Mamata Banerjee refused to speak when she heard Modi and the BJP. Mamata Banerjee had alleged that the BJP was insulting her in this way. That is why he is said to have decided to stay away from Haldia’s program today.
The Prime Minister will also pay a visit to Assam
Apart from West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi is also visiting Assam. Assembly elections will be held soon in both the states. The Prime Minister will visit Dhekiyajuli in Sonitpur district of Assam today. He will lay the foundation stone of two medical colleges in Charadeo and Vishwanath districts. It will cost around Rs 1,100 crore. State Finance Minister Himant Biswa Sarma informed this.
