Three IAF helicopters to assist

The NDRF and the Indian Air Force have been jointly tasked with the rescue operation. Since then, three helicopters have been rushed to the rescue by the Indian Air Force. These include two Mi-17s and one ALH Pole. The three helicopters along with the Disaster Relief Team were dispatched from Dehradun to Joshimath by the Indian Air Force for a rescue operation on Sunday morning.

Airlift to NDRF staff

According to the Indian Air Force, more aircraft will be deployed to help if needed. On Sunday afternoon, Air Force personnel started assisting the NDRF team in the rescue operation. NDRF personnel were airlifted from Jolly Grant Airport with the help of Air Force C130 and AN32 aircraft. The Indian Air Force airlifted a five-tonne car with 60 personnel from C Hindon to Hindon on Sunday evening.

Other security forces, including the Indian Army, SDRF, ITBP and Indian Air Force, have been deployed for the rescue operation. The ITBP, NDRF and ADRF teams were active in the rescue operation as soon as the glacier burst on Sunday. The air force was ordered to remain vigilant.
