A meeting of the Press Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. During the meeting, it was decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of 39 deceased journalists.
According to government sources during the committee meeting, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has allocated an additional Rs 1.5 crore in the Journalist Welfare Fund to provide financial assistance to the families of journalists who lost their lives due to corona. Journalists from all states of the country are eligible to avail benefits under this scheme.
Santosh Thakur, a representative of the journalists who participated in the meeting, urged to start health and life insurance schemes for all journalists in the country. He also demanded that journalists be involved in the Ayushyaman Bharat Yojana.
Corona statistics for the country
Meanwhile, the total number of corona infections in the country has reached 01 crore 09 lakh 25 thousand 311. Out of this 01 lakh 34 thousand 033 patients are undergoing treatment. As many as 01 lakh 06 lakh 30 thousand 892 people have successfully overcome Karona. So far, a total of 1 lakh 55 thousand 840 people have lost their lives due to this disease.
