In the 2015 municipal elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party had won 391 seats in Gujarat, while the Congress had to settle for 174 seats.
The voting process was completed in this constituency last Sunday. According to the State Election Commission, 46.1 per cent people exercised their franchise. Ahmedabad had the lowest turnout at 42.5 per cent and Jamnagar had the highest at 53.4 per cent. In Rajkot, the turnout was 50.7 per cent, Bhavnagar 49.5 per cent, Vadodara 47.8 per cent and Surat 47.1 per cent.
