Farmers insist on repeal of agricultural laws; Announcement of ‘Bharat Bandh’ on December 8

New Delhi: After discussions with the central government on agricultural laws on Thursday, the farmers’ unions again discussed among themselves. After the meeting, the United Farmers Front held a press conference. “We will not back down unless the three central agricultural laws are repealed,” the farmers told a news conference. “The government is ready to amend these laws, but we want the government to repeal these three laws,” he said. “We had a discussion with the government yesterday and we have clearly told the government to repeal these three laws,” farmer leader Harinder Pal Lakhowal said after a meeting on the Indus border.

He said the government seemed to agree with the farmers on the issue of electricity law and penalties for burning straw. But we want them to come here. This battle is over. We are not retreating. Farmers have called for a nationwide shutdown on December 8, said Harinder Pal Lakhowal.

“Apart from this, we will make toll plazas free across the country on December 8 and close all other roads in Delhi,” the farmers’ leaders said. He has announced that the farmers will also visit the statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 5.

For the last nine days, millions of farmers from various states of the country, including Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting on the borders of various states bordering Delhi. The support they receive is also growing.
