Earlier, Sinha had served as Cabinet Secretary from June 13, 2015 to August 30, 2019. He was a 1977 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
During his tenure, Sinha also served as Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Shipping. He also served as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
He graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University with a degree in Economics. He then passed the post-graduate examination in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. During his service, he earned a master’s degree in public administration and an M.A. in social sciences. Phil also finished. During his long career in the Indian Administrative Service, Sinha held various positions in the Uttar Pradesh State Government as well as in the Central Government.
Notably, this is the second high-profile exit from the Prime Minister’s Office. Earlier, Nripendra Mishra, who was the chief secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had tendered his resignation after the Lok Sabha elections.
