Aligarh: A female police officer has been raped by a police inspector in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. The victim has made allegations in this regard. The accused police inspector has been suspended. The matter is under investigation.

According to information received, the police inspector has been suspended on Friday after allegations were made by a female police officer. An inquiry has been launched into the matter. The police inspector was investigating the case of a woman officer’s daughter’s father-in-law harassing her for dowry. A case was registered at Sansi Gate police station in 2018.

On October 29, the police inspector asked the victim to provide some documents related to the case. At the same time, he called her at a hotel instead of at the police station. After going there, she was raped. He threatened to retaliate if he did so. According to media reports, the female officer did not tell anyone about it out of fear. However, after repeated threats, she eventually complained to her superiors. A case was later registered against the accused in the case. The accused police inspector absconded. It is being searched. He was suspended on Friday and further investigations are underway.
