Brijesh Singh of Narayanpur village under Gulriha police station was shot dead by goons on a two-wheeler on Friday night. He was returning to Gorakhpur from his village after completing his election campaign. He was the former sarpanch of his village and the BJP’s sector in-charge. This time he was the main contender for the Sarpanch post.
After completing the campaign in the village, he was going to his residence in Gorakhpur city at 11 pm. Meanwhile, two-wheelers sitting outside the village opened fire on them. I was shocked to learn about this incident. A large number of his supporters reached the spot. The family also went. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition. There, doctors examined him and pronounced him dead.
Two days ago, there was a dispute with the property dealer over the land. Therefore, an investigation is underway in that direction as well. Police have arrested Sunil Srivastava and Ram Samuj in the case. The other two are being sought. Gorakhpur has witnessed seven murders in the last eight days. Therefore, there is an atmosphere of fear in Gorakhpur. Gorakhpur district administration and police are trying to prevent crime. However, murders are still happening.
