New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against cartoonist Rachita Taneja in a contempt case. Following the permission of Attorney General KK Venugopal, a law student has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking contempt proceedings against Rachita Taneja.
Arnav Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic TV, was arrested on charges of inciting Naik and his mother to commit suicide. However, while granting bail to Arnav Goswami, the Maharashtra government’s action was questioned. In this case, Rachita had made two tweets. Rachita had drawn two cartoons against the Supreme Court decision. He shared the cartoon on social media through a Twitter handle called ‘Sanitary Panels’.
Aditya Kashyap, a law student, had complained that the tweet was contempt of court. Aditya Kashyap has filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court through advocate Namit Saxena. Rachita Taneja’s post went viral. Also, the people who attacked the judiciary shared it on social media, giving it a wide view.
