Bhopal:BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel has made a controversial statement in support of the farmers’ movement about the players trying to ‘return the award’.

Madhya Pradesh’s ruling BJP leader and Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel has tried to brand the players who are preparing to return the award in support of farmers as ‘traitors’.

Earlier, the award was withdrawn. How did he get the award? Those who uttered bad words about Mother India or tried to divide the country were honored with national awards, ”said Kamal Patel, indirectly targeting the opposition.

“These so-called award winners and intellectuals are not patriots,” he added.

While supporting the farmers on Monday, about 30 players from Punjab and Haryana waited at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to return the awards. However, he was stopped on the road by the Delhi Police. The 30 players had recently announced at a press conference that they would return various awards received from the President. It also included wrestler Kartar Singh. On Sunday, boxer Vijender Singh also announced that the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award would be returned if the agriculture laws were not withdrawn.

Notably, various trade unions in the country on Tuesday called for a nationwide shutdown in support of farmers opposing agricultural laws. Today is the twelfth day of the farmers’ movement. After the fifth failed talks with the authorities, the farmers called for a shutdown in India. The Union Minister and the farmers’ delegation have not been able to reach a settlement in all the five discussions so far.
