The security forces had received a tip-off that IED-like items were found on the side of the road connecting the railway road Dogri Pora to Panjgam village. A joint team of Avantipora Police, Army’s 55 National Rifles (55 RR) and CRPF’s 185 Battalion cordoned off the area. The explosives were seized to ensure the safety of the citizens.
During the investigation, a suspected container with a capacity of 10 liters was found by the security forces. Meanwhile, the IED was noticed to have been filled. After a great deal of effort, the IED was deactivated on the spot. So a big accident was averted. Had the IED exploded, many residents in the area would have lost their lives.
The case has been registered at Avantipora police station under various sections. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
Remarkably, such an incident had taken place even two weeks ago. 10 kg explosives were seized in South Pulwama district. According to police, the plot was hatched by Jaish-e-Mohammed.
