Highlights:
- Champat Rai accused of land scam
- Rai’s brother lodged a complaint with the police against the journalist
- Accused of hurting the feelings of crores of Hindus across the country
Uttar Pradesh police have registered a case against a journalist and two others in Bijnor district under Section 15 of the Indian Penal Code and three sections of the IT Act. The case has been registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader and Champat Rai’s brother.
The FIR, filed on the basis of a complaint lodged by Champat Rai’s brother Sanjay Bansal, mentions the names of journalist Vineet Narayan, Alka Lahoti and Rajneesh. It has been alleged in the complaint that conspiracy was hatched to make false allegations against Champat Rai and also to ‘hurt the feelings of crores of Hindus across the country’.
Land seized by NRIs?
Three days ago, journalist Vineet Narayan, in a Facebook post, accused Champat Rai of helping him and his brothers in a land scam in Bijnor district. In the post, Narayan had said that Champat Rai had helped his brothers to swallow 20,000 square meters of land belonging to a non-resident Indian, Alka Lahoti. Lahoti has been trying to remove illegal occupants of his land since 2018. He had also sought the help of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this.
Chief Minister Champat Rai ‘clean cheat’
Remarkably, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as well as Bijnor police have given a ‘clean chit’ to Champat Rai and others on the basis of preliminary investigation into the Ayodhya land scam case.
The Bijnor police chief has posted a video on Twitter after a complaint was lodged by Rai. In it, he is seen supporting Sanjay Bansal’s complaint. He also said that a police team was investigating the matter.
