Delhi Temperature: Summer in Delhi breaks 90-year record, declared ‘hit wave’

New Delhi: Temperatures in the capital Delhi have broken a 90-year record. The meteorological department has announced a ‘hit wave’ in Delhi.

When the mercury in a city is above 40 degrees, a ‘heat wave’ is announced. A ‘yellow alert’ was also issued by the meteorological department for the last two days. This also affects the health of the citizens. At such times, citizens are at increased risk of diseases such as heatstroke, diarrhea and typhoid.

For the last three days, Delhi has been experiencing intense heat waves. Delhi’s Mangeshpur recorded a low of 45.2 degrees Celsius, Najafgad 44 degrees Celsius and Pitampura 44.3 degrees Celsius.

As the monsoon season begins across the country, the heat has frightened the citizens. Citizens have to face extreme heat not only in the afternoon but also at night. Citizens should have been relieved with the rip-off of these days. However, clouds and rain are nowhere to be seen in the skies of Delhi at present and the mercury has gone beyond 40 degrees Celsius.

• June 28: Maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius
• June 29: Maximum temperature 43 degrees Celsius
• June 30: Maximum temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius
• July 1: Maximum temperature of 43.9 degrees Celsius
