Former Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat announced the name of Pushkar Singh Dhami. He also welcomed them with a wreath. Tirath Singh Rawat tendered his resignation late on Friday night due to constitutional issues. Rawat had only four months as chief minister.

Dhami has twice been elected as MLA from Khatima Assembly constituency in Kumaon constituency. He is considered very close to Rajnath Singh. He was also the Special Duty Officer (OSD) of former Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
Legislative Assembly meeting in Dehradun
After the resignation of Tirath Singh Rawat, a meeting of the Legislative Party was held at the BJP office in Dehradun today. Pushkar Singh Dhami was unanimously elected as the leader in this meeting. This time, BJP leader and Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and BJP general secretary D Purandeshwari acted as observers.
