  • Supreme Court pierces ears

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to reconsider its decision to allow the Kawad Yatra. “The Uttar Pradesh government should reconsider its order, otherwise we will have to issue the necessary orders,” the apex court warned Yogi Adityanath.

The center shook hands

An affidavit filed by the Center before the hearing in the Supreme Court said that the Center was not in favor of the decision allowing Kawad Yatra. The Center has also suggested that Ganga water should be delivered to various places by tanker instead of going to the temple in your area with a yoke.

Against the backdrop of the Kovid transition, the state governments should not allow yak holders to bring Ganga water from Haridwar. However, considering the religious sentiments, the state government should provide Ganga water to the devotees through tankers. Tankers should be made available at fixed places so that devotees from the respective areas can get Ganga water and perform anointing at their nearest Shiva temples. In the meantime, the state government should take responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Corona Rules, the Center said.

‘Considering religious sentiments …’

Speaking on behalf of the state government, CS Vaidyanathan, counsel for the Uttar Pradesh government, told the court that the permission was granted keeping in view the religious significance of the Kawad Yatra. He said the decision to allow vaccination was taken on the basis of RTPCR negative report.

‘Fundamental Right to Life’

On this, ‘We want to give you another chance to think. You decide whether the trip should be allowed or not. We are all citizens of India. Everyone has the basic right to life. We are giving you time to think until Monday. Otherwise, we will have to give the necessary orders’, said the Supreme Court in a harsh manner.

An affidavit should state whether the Uttar Pradesh government is ready or not to allow the Kawad Yatra. The affidavit should be submitted by Monday. Our main concern is that this decision is related to the fundamental right to life of every citizen of India. This is the highest right. Religious sentiments of all kinds come after him ‘, the court also warned.

The court had issued a notice

It may be recalled that the famous Kawad Yatra was sanctioned by the Uttar Pradesh government while the Uttarakhand government had denied permission for the yatra. On this, the court took note of the matter on its own, objecting to the decision of the UP government. Also, notices were issued to the Central Government, Uttar Pradesh Government and Uttarakhand Government to state their views. The hearing was held before the Supreme Court today (Friday).
