  • Ninety-five percent of police officers and staff prevented 19 deaths
  • Both doses of the corona vaccine help reduce the risk

New Delhi: India is at risk of a third wave of corona infection. On Friday, a member of the policy commission, Dr. VK Paul, citing an ICMR study, said both doses of the corona vaccine were sufficient to prevent death. During the second wave of coronavirus, both doses of the vaccine prevented 95 per cent of the highest-risk deaths among police officers and staff. Paul said.

The study of ICMR

The Delta variant is believed to be responsible for the second wave of corona infections in the country. An ICMR study assessed the effectiveness of the corona vaccine among 1,17,524 police personnel in Tamil Nadu. Of these, 67,673 police personnel were given two doses and 32,792 policemen were given one dose. About 17,059 police personnel were not vaccinated.

Dr. According to Paul, 20 of the 17,059 police officers who did not get the corona vaccine died of covid 19. Only seven deaths were reported among police personnel taking at least one dose. At the same time, only four of the 67,673 police personnel who received both doses of the vaccine died.

Therefore, the mortality rate was 1.17 per cent for every 1000 police officers who did not get vaccinated, 0.21 per cent for those who took one dose of vaccine and 0.06 per cent for those who took both doses of vaccine.

Remarkably, a total of 39 crore 96 lakh 95 thousand 879 vaccine doses have been used across the country. Of these, 42 lakh 12 thousand 557 vaccines were given on Friday.
