Rains had lashed many districts of Maharashtra in the last few days. This caused floods in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Thane, Satara, Kolhapur, Pune and Sangli districts. This created a backlog in some districts. In Maharashtra, relief and rescue operations are underway with state agencies including NDRF.
Eleven more bodies were exhumed from a pile in Taliye village in Raigad’s Mahad in Maharashtra on Monday. Now the total death toll in the state has risen to 164. Two people each died in Wardha and Akola. The government says 100 people are still missing.
