Opposition groups rallied and chanted slogans against the passage of the bill in both houses of parliament after the opposition’s demand for a debate was rejected. Rajya Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP president Sharad Pawar, DMK’s TR Balu in the Lok Sabha, Congress’ Anand Sharma and Trinamool Congress, SP and Rashtriya Janata Dal MPs.

They include Dola Sen, Arpita Ghosh, Nadeem ul Haq, Abir Ranjan Vishwas, Shanti Chhetri and Mausam Noor. He was suspended for the day.
