New Delhi: The Border Road Organization (BRO) of the Central Government has built the highest road in the world. This road has been constructed at an altitude of 19,300 feet at Umaling La Pass in East Ladakh (india builds highest motorable road in the world). Where and how was this road built?

– BRO has constructed a 52 km asphalt road at Umalingla Pass in East Ladakh. The BRO said Bolivia had previously built the road at an altitude of 18,953 feet. This road connects Uturunku volcano.

– This road connects very important villages in Chumar sector in East Ladakh.

– This road has provided an alternative mode of transportation for the citizens living in remote areas. This road connects Demchok and Chijumle in Leh.

– This road is built higher than the South Base Camp on Mount Everest, the highest snow peak in the world. The southern base camp of Mount Everest in Nepal is at an altitude of 17,598 feet.

– The road is built higher than the Siachen Glacier. The Siachen Glacier is 17,700 feet high. The Khardung La Pass in Leh is 17,582 feet high.

– This road will boost tourism in Ladakh and boost the social and economic development of the people in remote areas.

– It was a very difficult task to build this road. The road was constructed at a temperature of minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit[-40 अंश C]freezing cold, and with an oxygen level of less than 50 percent.
