Opposition leaders in both the houses will meet tomorrow at the office of Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss how to prepare the government for the Pegasus issue, sources said. Tomorrow is the third week of the monsoon session and the government is expected to decide to adjourn the session.
Opposition members have been holding placards in both the Houses of Parliament for the last thirteen days. Rajya Sabha leader Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said that a female security officer was killed when the glass of the entrance gate shattered while some opposition MPs were trying to force their way into the Rajya Sabha. Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 11.30 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm. In the confusion of the opposition, the Rajya Sabha passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order Amendment Bill for Scheduled Tribes in Arunachal Pradesh, the Air Quality Management Commission Bill in the National Capital Region and the Essential Defense Services Bill introduced by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The Lok Sabha also had to be adjourned four times. After the introduction of the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill and the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, the House was adjourned for the day.
