S. P. As Singh Baghel was returning from campaign, his convoy was attacked at Atikullarpur. At least a hundred assailants, already in the field, suddenly started throwing stones. When the convoy was stopped, the assailants came on the road and attacked the convoy’s vehicles with sticks. The assailants soon passed by. After informing the police about this, a large police force arrived at the spot. Police are investigating the spot and teams have been dispatched to search for the attackers. Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting at Mainpuri on Tuesday afternoon. The incident is likely to take a serious turn as Baghel’s convoy was attacked within hours.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has directly attacked the Samajwadi Party over the attack. The assailants planned to kill Baghel. The attack was carried out by SP goons. Strict action will be taken in this regard, Maurya said. BJP state president Swatantradeo Singh also attacked the SP. He alleged that the goons were spreading terror as Akhilesh was facing defeat. Voting will take place in Karhal on February 20.
Owesi and Fogat were attacked
MIM party president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi was attacked at Hapud a few days ago while on his way to Delhi from Meerut. Later, the convoy of BJP’s star campaigner Babita Fogat was also attacked. While these two incidents are still fresh, there has been a great deal of excitement over the targeting of Baghel.
