VIP Security: … So the Center immediately gave VIP security to ‘those’ 2 dozen BJP leaders!

New Delhi: Nearly two dozen BJP leaders from Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, where assembly elections are being held, have been provided VIP security cover by armed paramilitary commandos. In this, Union Minister SP Singh Baghel, who is contesting against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, has been given ‘Z’ level security. Some candidates from Uttar Pradesh and Punjab have been provided security cover till the end of the election process. Some of these leaders have been provided security cover by the central forces in addition to the existing state police security. The Union Home Ministry has handed over the responsibility to the CISF and CRPF. Both the forces have commando VIP security squads and these commandos have sophisticated weapons.

Union Minister of State SP Singh Baghel is contesting from Karhal constituency in Mainpuri district against SP president Akhilesh Yadav. On Wednesday, while returning from the Baghel campaign, the BJP had alleged that his convoy was attacked by Sap’s ‘goons’. Against that background, Baghel has been given Z security. BJP’s Delhi MP and singer Hans Raj Hans has also been given ‘Z’ grade security. Bhadohi MP from Uttar Pradesh Ramesh Chandra Bind has been given ‘X’, while Punjab’s United Akali Dal leader Sukhwinder Singh Bindra and BJP candidates Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Avtar Singh Zira have been given ‘Y’ to ‘Y Plus’ security.
