Shock to Imran Khan
With Imran Khan’s allies withdrawing support, the government fell into the minority and the opposition filed a no-confidence motion against Khan. As the challenge of proving a majority seemed impossible, Imran Khan played politics and the no-confidence motion was rejected by the Deputy Speakers in the National Assembly. The President then dissolved Parliament. Opposition groups called for a boycott of the assembly, saying it was illegal. After a few days of hearing on the petition of the opposition, the court finally quashed the decision of the Deputy Speaker and ordered a vote on the no-confidence motion on April 9. If he fails to prove a majority this time, Imran Khan will lose the PM’s job.
‘Fight to the last ball’
Imran Khan has convened a cabinet meeting today amid political tensions following the Supreme Court decision. He will also address the nation today. “I will fight this battle till the last ball,” Khan said.
