New Delhi: The National Herald case against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi was investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for five hours on Monday. (Mallikarjun Kharge Ed Probe Updates)

Sources said that Mallikarjun Kharge was summoned by the ED for questioning as he was a member of the Congress-affiliated Young India, which runs the National Herald newspaper through the Associated Journals Limited. Recently retired BJP Rajya Sabha member Dr. Subramaniam Swamy had lodged a complaint in this regard 10 years ago.

Swamy had alleged that some Congress leaders had seized the assets of the closed National Herald Case through the board of directors of Young India, of which Sonia was the president and Rahul was the vice-president. Swamy had alleged that Young India had set up a company with a capital of only Rs 50 lakh and conspired to seize the assets of Associated Journals Limited worth Rs 2,000 crore. The court also summoned Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey, Oscar Fernandes and Motilal Vora on their charges.
