What exactly happened?

The body of Santosh Patil, a contractor, was found in a lodge in Udupi. An investigation had revealed that he had committed suicide. Santosh had recently accused Minister Ishwarappa and his staff Ramesh and Basavaraj of bribery. On that basis, Santosh’s brother Prashant Patil lodged a complaint with the police. He alleged in the complaint that Ishwarappa and his associates had incited my brother to commit suicide. A case has been registered against Ishwarappa and others. In 2020-21, the residents of Hindalga village had visited Ishwarappa and requested him to construct drains, roads and footpaths for drainage. Minister Ishwarappa gave permission for this work and the work contract was given to Santosh Patil. Santosh had invested Rs 4 crore for this work and his bill is still pending. Santosh met Minister Ishwarappa several times for this and requested him to approve the bill and provide funds; However, Ishwarappa’s close associates Basavaraj and Ramesh were demanding 40 per cent commission from Santosh for this’, it has been mentioned in the complaint. Congress MLA Priyank Kharge has alleged that many more people were involved in the 40 per cent commission scam.
