New Delhi: According to a recent report by the National Family Health Survey (NFHS), the country’s population has plummeted and the fertility rate of all religions in India has declined. In particular, religious groups that had high fertility rates have seen dramatic declines. According to the report, the fertility rate among Muslims has declined by 9.9 per cent in the 2019-21 report as compared to the 2015-16 report. The first NFHS report was published in 1992-93. Compared to the first report, the country’s total fertility rate (TFR) has declined from 3.4 to 2.0 per cent to a total of 40 per cent. According to the report, the fertility rate of all religious groups in the country, except Muslims, has dropped dramatically. Although the fertility rate of Muslims is slightly higher than that of other religions, the report shows that the fertility rate of Muslims has dropped dramatically compared to other religions. According to surveys conducted so far, the total fertility rate of Muslims has declined by 46.5 per cent, Hindus by 41.2 per cent, Christians by 34.5 per cent and Sikhs by 33.7 per cent.

According to the report, the country’s fertility rate has fallen from 2.2 per cent to 2 per cent. About 6.37 lakh samples were taken from 707 districts in 28 states and 8 Union Territories of the country. According to the report, 69 per cent of men in Chandigarh believe that using contraceptives is a woman’s job and men should not think about it. According to 44.1 per cent men in Kerala, women who use contraceptives can be self-sufficient. 55.2% of men say that if the contraceptive is used properly, a large number of pregnancies can be prevented.
