Uday Lalit is known for his gentle nature. But even Uday Lalit will not be able to remain the Chief Justice for long. His tenure will be only 74 days. Uday Lalit will retire on November 8, 2022 if he becomes Chief Justice.

take Uday Umesh Lalit is a son of Devgad taluka of Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. Their original home is at Girye-Kotharwadi. His grandfather settled in Solapur to practice law. His father Umesh Lalit was a judge in the High Court from 1974 to 1976. Uday Lalit completed his education from Mumbai University and worked with senior lawyer Sorabji. Lalit was an independent advocate in the Supreme Court for many years. Uday Lalit has been serving as a judge of the Supreme Court since August 13, 2014.
