Ranchi : Eknath Shinde and his supporting MLAs were staying in a hotel in Guwahati when the power struggle was going on in Maharashtra. In Jharkhand, there is a government of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress and RJD led by Hemant Soren. It was decided to keep the MLAs together so that there would not be any difficulty in forming an alternative government if the time came for Hemant Soren to quit as an MLA.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, RJD and Congress MLAs along with ministers have been kept at a resort near Latratu Dam in Khunti district from Ranchi. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has 30 MLAs, Congress 16 and RJD 1. Legislative strength of Jharkhand is 81. So, BJP has 25 MLAs. However, three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand did not reach the meeting. Congress is also keeping an eye on the developments in the state.

BJP had accused Hemant Soren of giving himself stone mining lease. Soren holds the Ministry of Mines and Forests. On the basis of Section 9A of the Office of Public Representation and Benefits Act, 1951, the BJP had demanded the cancellation of Soren’s MLA. The Central Election Commission has given its feedback to Governor Ramesh Bais. Raj Bhavan is likely to announce a decision in this regard on Monday.
