Employees of Hyderabad Police Station in Lakhimpur Khiri district encountered Vineet Sharma on October 19 around 8:30 pm. He was reportedly hit by a 9 mm bullet in his leg. But the picture seen in the viral video is different. The criminal is seen lying on the ground. He has a pistol in his hand. After some time Sharma gets up and starts walking. Sharma stands up and starts walking as the police say he was shot in the leg.

Many, including former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who served in the Uttar Pradesh Police Force, termed the encounter as bogus. What kind of encounter is this, he asked. No injuries. No bleeding. The accused got up comfortably and started walking. Bogus encounter reigns in Uttar Pradesh. He demanded that action should be taken against the culprits in this case.
