Ahmedabad: Hardik Patel, who entered active politics after the Patidars’ agitation demanding reservation, has failed in his first ordeal (Gujarat municipal election). In Gujarat’s municipal elections, BJP has got majority in four municipalities. At the same time, the party has won 93 seats in Surat district. Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is at the second position. AAP has won 23 seats. So the most disappointing performance has been made by the Congress. The Congress could not even open an account in the municipal elections. And Surat is considered to be the stronghold of the Patidars. Patidar leader Hardik Patel is in charge of the Congress.

Patidars got a leader, now Patidars are defeated in Balekilla

A few years back, Congress leader Hardik Patel was being projected as one of the biggest Patidar leaders in Gujarat. Seeing the popularity of Hardik Patel, he was called for campaigning in many states. All the prominent leaders of the Congress invited him to public meetings of the party and after that the leadership gave him the responsibility of the executive chairmanship of the Gujarat Congress. But the Congress, which was trying to win over the Patidars to its side, lost at Surat’s Balekilla. This defeat of the Congress is being considered as a direct failure of Hardik Patel.

The disappointing performance of the Congress in other districts as well

Apart from this, the Congress has done similarly in other districts. BJP has so far won 389 seats in Gujarat’s municipal elections. Congress has won 39 seats. Aam Aadmi Party won 14 seats and BSP won 3 seats. At the same time, an independent candidate has won one seat.
