PM Cares: Why LIC only funded PM Cares, Opposition questions in Lok Sabha

The Congress and the ruling party clashed in the Lok Sabha on Monday over PM care funds. Opponents accused LIC of funding PMCares instead of providing benefits to the people, while Union Minister Anurag Thakur criticized the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation for accepting funds from China. During Question Hour, Congress leader Ravneet Singh raised the issue of plight of migrant workers and the poor during the lockdown imposed by the government. Also, why did LIC only fund PM Cares? He raised such a question. Anurag Thakur, in reply, said that the government had taken steps during the lockdown to alleviate the plight of the workers. Many have paid the full amount of their pension, while others have given the proceeds from MGNREGA to PM Cares. However, a family in the country set up the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and received funding from China. The party has never given priority to Prime Minister’s funds.

Five bills introduced in Lok Sabha

– Union Home Minister G. Kishan Reddy introduces ‘National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill’. The 1991 Act will be amended.

– Mining and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill introduced by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. The 1957 Act will be amended.

– Cabinet Minister Sadanand Gowda introduces ‘National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill’. The 1998 Act will be amended.

– Union Minister Smriti Irani introduces Juvenile Justice (Child Care and Protection) Amendment Bill. Children will be better protected

– Union Minister Mansukhlal Mandviya introduces ‘Marine Aid to Navigation Bill’. The country’s maritime transport will be better managed.
