During regular training, the MiG-21 Bison took off from Suratgarh in Rajasthan, Indian Air Force officials said.
According to the information received, the plane crashed near Langiana Khurd in Baghapurana village of Moga town in Punjab at around 1.00 pm. The plane caught fire after the crash.
Pilot Squadron Leader Abhinav Chaudhary was critically injured after the plane crashed in the western region. The body of pilot Abhinav was recovered on Friday morning. The Air Force has expressed its condolences over the tragic incident.

India had purchased MiG-21s from Russia’s Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau in 1961. These aircraft are still being used by the Indian Air Force. The Indian Air Force still has four MiG-21 squadrons.
