Jharkhand: Woman punished by father-in-law for not being able to become a mother

Ranchi: It may seem an exaggeration for some to try to kill a woman because she is forced to be a mother or because she cannot give the family the lamp of descent. However, such a real incident has come to light in Jharkhand. Unable to conceive, a woman and her husband were tried by her in-laws. The woman’s private parts were injured by heating the iron rod and an attempt was made to burn her waist.

The incident took place in Parspani village in Gadhwa district of Jharkhand. The victim is currently in hospital and her condition is critical, police said. A case has been registered against the accused husband Dinesh Prasad Gupta and other accused and further investigation is underway, police said.
