Rahul Gandhi was seen driving a tractor wearing khaki pants and a white shirt. This time, along with Rahul Gandhi, some other Congress leaders were also present in the agitation scene. In their hands were some placards in support of the peasant movement as well as the repeal of black agricultural laws.
Farmers are said to be happy with the Agriculture Act and farmers protesting against these laws are called ‘terrorists’ and what not … but, it is true that the rights of the farmers are being taken away. I have brought the message of the farmers. The authorities are trying to silence the voice of the farmers. Efforts are being made to prevent these issues from being discussed in Parliament. But they will have to withdraw all the three controversial agricultural laws, said Rahul Gandhi.
Delhi Police have arrested Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala, Youth Congress chief BV Srinivasa and several other party workers for violating Section 144 rules by staging a tractor strike.
During the monsoon session of Parliament, the opposition tries to surround the ruling BJP on various issues including Pegasus espionage, inflation, fuel price hike, including agricultural laws. Due to the rigidity of the ruling party and the tough stance taken by the opposition, the first week of the convention could not be held.
