On Friday morning, a man was found tied to a road barricade with his arms and legs broken. The man died on the spot in a blood clot and half-naked condition. It was learned that the person’s name was Lakhbir Singh. It was revealed in a viral video that Nihang Sikh was saying that he was punished for insulting Guru Granth Sahib. The incident took place near the site of a farmers’ agitation against agricultural laws.
The main accused in the murder, Nihang Sikh Sarabjit Singh, had himself appeared before the police late on Friday evening, claiming responsibility for Lakhbir’s murder. He was later arrested by the police. Sonipat police produced him before the district court today (Saturday). This time, the court sentenced him to seven days in police custody.
Haryana police had demanded 14 days police custody for Sarabjit Singh. Police had asked for the time to investigate the weapons used in the killings. However, the court remanded the accused in custody for seven days.
According to the police, the main accused Sarabjit Singh has given information about four more accused in the interrogation. The accused will also be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, the police have also received the autopsy report of the deceased Lakhbir Singh. It is said that 37 marks of injuries were found on the body of the deceased. It also said a number of weapons, including sticks, were used in the attack. On Saturday morning, Lakhbir’s sister Raj Kaur took his body into custody and left for Tarn Taran.
