Mayurbhanjah Twenty-six students of a government school in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district have tested positive. Officials made the announcement on Saturday. The district administration informed that 26 students of Chamkapur tribal girls’ school at Thakurmunda, Mayurbhanj were infected with coronavirus. Samples of the remaining 15 students have been sent for testing.

The affected students have been kept in isolation in the government school premises and are being contacted by the authorities. ‘The district administration is on high alert. A team of doctors is monitoring them. Medicines are being dispensed and ambulances are kept on standby. If the situation worsens, we will move the students to DHH Hospital, ”said Karanjia Deputy District Magistrate Rajnikant Biswal.

Symptoms of cold and cough in some students

The area has been declared a containment zone and the school premises are being cleaned twice a day. All student samples will be collected for corona virus testing as part of the COVID-19 safety protocol. The school has a total of 259 students with 20 staff members. Some students showed symptoms of cold and cough. He then fell ill on Thursday. After this, the school administration conducted Covid-19 test on the sick students. The Corona test found 26 students to be positive, the official said.

Samples of 15 students sent for testing

Of the students tested, 26 were found to have coronary heart disease. Samples of 15 other students have been sent to Baripada District Headquarters Hospital for testing. These students are residents of Chamkapur Residential High School in Thakurmunda block of the district. Against this backdrop, Karanjia Deputy Collector Rajnikant Biswal along with a medical team visited the school on Saturday. ‘We have cleaned the school. All the positive students have been isolated in the school and they are being given medicines. A team of doctors is here and we are keeping a close watch on the students, said Deputy Collector Rajnikant Biswal.
