New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the state governments to conduct fire safety audits in Covid-19 hospitals in their respective states. This is to prevent accidents due to fire in hospitals. The apex court has also ordered hospitals to obtain Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC).

A bench headed by Supreme Court Justice Ashok Bhushan passed the order. Hospitals should obtain a no-objection certificate from the fire department. If this is not done, then such hospitals should be prepared for legal action, the apex court has warned. The apex court has directed the hospitals to get the no-objection certificate within the next four weeks. The apex court has directed the hospitals whose no-objection certificates have expired to renew them within the next four weeks.

The Supreme Court has directed all states to abide by the guidelines of Kovid-19. According to this guideline, wearing a mask is mandatory and social distance must be observed.

The apex court also said that the Election Commission should check whether the guidelines of Kovid-19 are followed in political rallies.

The apex court has said that it is the responsibility of the state government to appoint nodal officers to prevent recurrence of fire incidents in Rajkot and Ahmedabad. The apex court also directed all state governments in the country to file affidavits of compliance with the court order within four weeks.

The apex court has also directed that strict action be taken against Kovid hospitals if they do not take care of fire safety.
